Most of you who are reading this “report-back” on the October visit by the IDA (German International Dairy Association) will be familiar with our informative and inspirational workshops for dairy farmers world-wide. However, for those of you who may be visiting our website for the first time, I will start with a brief re-cap. Israel is widely acknowledged to be a world leader in Dairy farming, as attested to by the record-breaking yields achieved on a regular basis on our dairy farms, which far exceed most other countries averages. Our success is achieved through a combination of superior herd nutrition, excellent veterinary care as well as caring and responsible herd management and milking techniques. It is these factors that make all the difference to your bottom line and this is what draws dairy farmers from all corners of the globe to Israel to learn more about on one of our Dairy Seminars and Tours.

October 2014 visit by the German IDF

Day One and Day Two

On arrival in Tel Aviv, our German visitors were met at the airport and escorted to their hotel for a welcome dinner and a chance to discuss the exciting program in store for them over the following two days. After a good night’s sleep and a hearty Israeli breakfast our guests set off on the first leg of a busy but rewarding schedule that included visits to a veterinary centre, followed by a morning of lectures on the various aspects of dairy herd health and management.

Our seminars always include all meals and visits to some of the exceptional historical sites in Israel, and lunch on day one was taken in the beautiful Old City of Caesarea, in the Caesarea National Park on the shores of the Mediterranean. The afternoon program included a visit to Israel’s first organic dairy farm and a robotic milking facility before guests transferred to a Kibbutz near the Sea of Galilee for dinner and overnight accommodation.

Day Three

The emphasis on day three was all about the vital role of nutrition for successful dairy farming, and included visits to a Feed Station, a private Kibbutz dairy farm and lectures on all aspects of herd management and nutrition.

Day Four

Day four was another busy day for our delegates and included visits to a dairy fertility centre, an agricultural research centre and another private Kibbutz dairy farm, before guests were transferred back to their overnight accommodation in Tel Aviv.

Balancing Work and Play

Of course, the main purpose of an Israeli Dairy Experience is to gain knowledge about how to be a successful dairy farmer, but we try to make time to showcase our beautiful country to enrich your visit to Israel. On this tour our group managed to fit in a visit to the old city of Capernaum, near the Lake of Galilee, and after the seminar they visited Jerusalem and the Dead Sea – all important historical and religious sites in Israel.

Our IDA visitors returned home with a Dairy School certificate, a greater understanding of the principals of Israeli dairy farming, and hopefully a new appreciation of Israeli history and culture.

Custom-made Seminars and Tours

The Israeli Dairy Experience can be customized to suit the particular interests of participants and can include seminars on Goat Farming, Sheep Farming and even how to start a Dairy Farm. Let us know what aspects of dairy farming you need to learn about and we will put together a tailor-made Israeli Dairy Experience for your group.
